The team downloaded the beta app, visited the Mahala Facebook and Twitter pages, scanned the code made specifically for St. Jude Hospital, and made a one-dollar donation in less than a minute.

Donations have now been made directly to St. Jude Children’s Hospital via the Mahala Platform from as far away as Israel, South Africa and the United Kingdom.

In talking about the beta launch transactions, Mahala founder Sonny Fisher said, “We had staff from our offices on three different continents, complete transactions using Facebook, Twitter and other social media feeds with the money safely depositing directly to our designated charity - they simply entered a dollar amount and PIN to complete the transaction… NO personal or financial information needed to be transmitted to the recipient. The significance of this is that now anyone can do business securely on his or her social networks.”
