B. Trey Morris and Justin C. Dewett Reselected to Rising Stars®

Jan. 22, 2013 - PRLog -- Two attorneys from the Louisiana personal injury law firm of Simmons, Morris & Carroll LLC have been reselected to Louisiana’s list of Rising Stars®. Selections are made for Rising Stars® on a state-by-state, annual basis, and not more than 2.5% of attorneys in the state are included in this prestigious list.

Super Lawyers® selects candidates using a rigorous and multiphase rating process which includes peer nominations and evaluations, combined with third party research. Each candidate is evaluated on a dozen indicators of peer recognition and professional achievements. The Super Lawyer® and Rising Star® selections are made on an annual, state-by-state basis.

The ultimate goal of the selection process is to create a comprehensive and credible list of outstanding attorneys which can be used as a valuable resource for both attorneys and consumers searching for quality legal counsel.

The research process is run by an attorney-led research staff that searches for those attorneys that have attained particular honors, successful case results, and credentials, all of which are indicators of peer recognition and professional competence. Super Lawyers® looks for lawyers that have been admitted into certain colleges, earned Board Certification, performed pro bono work as a lawyer, attained certain awards and large settlements, as well as those that have attained stellar verdicts, delivered scholarly lectures, and performed community service work.  Candidates are also evaluated for other applicable indicators of professional competence and achievements.

In addition to coming under close review of their education and achievements, the research staff also looks into the attorney’s background and if they’ve ever been subject to any disciplinary actions, or criminal proceedings,  and if they are in good standing with their local licensing authority.

The selection process for Rising Stars® is very similar to Super Lawyers®; however, Rising Stars® candidates must be 40 years of age or younger, and in practice for ten years or less. While as much as 5% of attorneys in the state are recognized as Super Lawyers®, not more than 2.5% of attorneys in the state are named to the list of Rising Stars®.
