Vitreo-Retinal Surgeon Shailesh Gupta, M.D., F.A.C.S., Joins Eye Centers of Florida Clewiston

Jan. 29, 2013 - PRLog -- Eye Centers of Florida is pleased to announce that Vitreo-Retinal Surgeon Shailesh Gupta, M.D., F.A.C.S., has recently joined the practice. He is currently available to see patients at the Eye Centers of Florida Clewiston location, located at 820 W. Sugarland Hwy.

Dr. Gupta is a native of Florida, and has developed strong roots within the community. He attended middle school, high school, college, and received all of his professional training in the state of Florida (http://www.ecof.com/about/our-doctors/shailesh-gupta-m.d.-f.a.c.s.-vitreo-retinal-surgeon/). After receiving his undergraduate degree in biology from the University of Miami, Dr. Gupta went on to complete his doctorate in medicine with research distinction at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. He completed his residency in ophthalmology at the University of Florida, where he stayed for his fellowship and was trained in surgical and medical diseases of the retina. Following this, Dr. Gupta served as the assistant professor and retina faculty in the University of Florida’s Department of Ophthalmology for nine years.

Dr. Gupta has professional affiliations with respected organizations, such as the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Retina Specialists, and Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology. He also serves as a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

Dr. Gupta has pioneered novel surgical techniques in the management of retinal detachments and was an active participant and co-author in a number of national research trials. Some of these include AREDS 2 and several protocols of the Diabetic Retinopathy Clinical Research Network (DRCR.net).
