Abstract: Managing Difficult People on Projects

There are four components to the Project Equation. Unfortunately, millions of dollars are spent on one component; the methodology. Despite this investment, only 32% of IT projects were successful in 2009. The one common component, throughout the years of various project management methodologies, has been the people. There are no difficult projects only difficult people. One’s ability to manage (difficult) people is the missing link between a methodology and a successful project. Learn how to better manage stakeholder expectations, to turn victims into responsible team members, to control pity parties, to motivate people to change and to deal with narcissists.
