Feb. 7, 2013 - PRLog -- With libraries playing larger than life role in an institute’s functioning, their automation has enhanced the way they are executed. LIBSYS Ltd., a pioneer in library automation, has developed software that provides reliable and authentic library management system: LIBSYS7. The software plays a vital role in offering end-to-end manageability to the library staff as well as the patrons. Based on value-added modules, LIBSYS7 has incorporated in itself the innovatory features over time and helped more than 2000+ libraries to revitalize themselves.

How LIBSYS7© Modules Strengthen Your Library?

Acquisition:
This involves automating the process of order placement and acquisition, generating invoice, preparing budgetary details, providing a unified ordering system to multi-located libraries, quick online indexing, and item cancellations.

Cataloging: The online library management system, LIBSYS7, assists in easy maintenance of the titles in process, adding titles to database, updating them on a regular basis. The catalogs provided by this software are based on SRU-SRW, Z39.50, OAI-PMH, MARC 21 which are the common standards used in industry. The catalogues so generated facilitate online search which includes search for titles, authors, and subjects.

Circulation: The software performs circulation activities like keeping member records; collecting fine; borrowing, renewing & reservation of books; keeping track of the statistics on stock and check-out data; and generating list of inquiries and reports. With RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) coming into picture, the circulation has become far more easy as it allows the readers to do the check-in and check-out activities on their own.

How does LIBSYS7 Qualify as Credible Library Management Software?

Web -OPAC:

OPAC stands for Online Public Access Software. This feature enhances the way a user searches a particular book from a vast catalogue of items. The OPAC search provides enriched bibliographic details (title, author, publishing details, reviews, table of contents, annotations etc.) and has search capability for multiple locations. In addition to that, browsing, keeping track of new arrivals, seeking online help, fast retrieval of items is rendered easy by it.

Federated Search:
This library management system allows federated search which displays merged results from different resources; patrons are free to choose the servers that they want to include in searching of the results. The federated search is, in fact, a single point search for standards like Z39.50 and SRU-SRW. The results so got are de-duplicated in order to avoid any repeated results.

Net Cataloging:
It involves using net support for getting library catalogue enriched with enhanced features getting along with the standards like SRU-SRW, OAI-PMH, Z39.50 etc. By means of net cataloguing, the records can be downloaded easily via inputting ISBN. Required changes or amendments can be made as per requirement and new data can be added & saved locally.

Customization: This software allows the users to choose their own layouts. It also provides them with drag N Drop facility, custom formatting, column ordering etc. Plug-in Java code is used for customization. The users can even define their own titles, reports, header & footer and summary.

Reliability and Authenticity:
LIBSYS7 has, over the years, been successful in providing satisfaction to both the library staff and the patrons.

GWT based GUI: The Graphical User Interface is not only easy to interact with but also supports multitasking and multi-lingual support.

Compatibility with Standards and Databases:
It is compatible with standards like MARC21, SRU-SRW, Unicode, Z39.50, NCIP-NISO, SICI-Barcode and Dublin Code. It supports RDBMS like ORACLE, MySql, SQL, Postgre SQL.

Additional Features: The system supports AACR-II format required for the printing of catalogue cards. The users are provided with RSS feeds which are also integrated via Bookfinder and Google Books. There is scope for online interaction with users via reviews, reservations, ratings, and renewals.
