Botched Plantation Shutter Job Highlighted in Video

Feb. 9, 2013 - PRLog -- Dallas, TX -- The old adage “you get what you pay for” reared its ugly head recently in the form of a new YouTube video featuring a failed plantation shutter job. Universal Window Coverings of Dallas produced the short video after they were called upon to consult the distraught home owners. “They actually stopped the installation.” Said Universal owner Mike Coronato, “and after seeing it for myself, I can see why. It was a nightmare job done by unscrupulous people out to make a buck at the expense of others.”

The home was in Frisco, Texas and after most of the shutters had been installed, the lady of the house decided she needed to do something, so she halted the installation until she could get some professional advice. Enter Universal Window Coverings; they have been around for over 20 years and were recommended by the homeowner’s attorney, who had used them previously in his home. “We surveyed the entire job and took pictures of everything”, Coronato said. “Later, I decided to make a video out of them so that hopefully it would help others to avoid becoming victims in the future.”

This isn't the first video that UWC has put out either; in the past year they've released a total of 6 online videos, most of which are about 2 minutes or shorter in length and all but one are educational, designed to inform the consumer about plantation shutters and show them “all the things they didn't know they didn't know” about them.

Down-to-earth, humorous and engaging, the short clips are highly informative, explaining everything from shutter construction to impact resistance. One of the videos has Coronato literally smashing different types of shutters to see how they hold up.
