DSV meets the highest H&S standards

Feb. 18, 2013 - PRLog -- More than 25 million working days were lost due to work related illnesses and injuries in the UK in 2011/12, according the latest figures from the UK Health & Safety Executive.

As a result, it is vital that businesses conform to the highest health & safety standards.

The DSV Group of Companies are therefore delighted to announce that their Harwich, Manchester and Aberdeen facilities have been recommended for registration to the BS OHSAS 18001 standard for health & safety.

This standard requires the companies to make a commitment to ensure legal compliance. This ensures that DSV has a safe and secure environment to work within and continuity of operations for customers through safe working practices.

Victoria Beale, General Manager, SHEQ, DSV UK, says: “We are delighted to achieve BS OHSAS 18001 Accreditation. It shows that three or our facilities now conform to the highest H&S standards meaning our staff work within a safe environment and customers are assured they receive the high level of service they require.”

The BS OHSAS 18001 Accreditation allows businesses to identify and control H&S risks and reduce the potential for accidents and improve overall health and safety performance.

As well as achieving BS OHSAS 18001 Accreditation, the Harwich site also has the ISO9001 Quality Standard and ISO14001 Environmental Standard.

Manchester has the ISO9001 standard and Aberdeen is working towards both the ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 Accreditations. All three standards identify a framework for managing processes and systems in these three key areas.  The standards have been in place since 1994 (ISO9001) and 2009 (ISO 14001).
