Harassment by Polish Border Guard: Radio Interview on BBC Asian Network tomorrow 26th Feb at 11 am

Radio talk show host Nihal conducts an in depth interview with Shaminder Puri on the harassment of Sikhs by the Polish Border Guard, the ensuing Court Case, the Appeal & the EU’s new rules recognising the aspiration of British Sikhs regarding their turbans.

Shaminder Puri, who is an eminent scientist and holds senior advisory positions with EU and other international agencies, was subjected to humiliation conducted under the guise of security checks in Warsaw airport. Many other Sikhs were similarly mistreated. After repeated attempts at dialogue failed he took the Border Guard to Court. The Polish legal process has conceded that Sikh Human Rights have been clearly infringed. However the Appeal Court cannot fault the Border Guards for this.  The Case continues as the Judges appear to have been unable to balance the claims that is enshrined in the Polish  Constitution.
