Follow on Google News | Cheer Channel Launches Anti-Bullying CampaignThroughout the campaign, Cheer Channel will offer opportunities for cheerleaders who have been the victim of bullying to speak out and share their stories. Dee Temples, a 14-year-old cheerleader for A-Towne All-Stars in Cummings, Georgia, has been the victim of cyber-bullying, having her name and likeness used in a negative way on popular social media sites. She will be the first of several youths who will participate along with the Cheer Channel in leading the charge against bullying. Dee Temples - A-Towne All-Stars Cyber-Bullying is quickly becoming the primary form of bullying used by today''s teens and adolescents. A study conducted by the Bureau of Justice Statistics reports that over 50 percent of students have reported being cyber-bullied, 33 percent have experienced cyber threats online, and 52 percent of teens do not alert an adult that cyber-bullying has occurred. "Cyber-Bullying has become such a common trend across the many social media platforms, it is now so easy to hurt someones feelings and reputation on a large scale," said Cheer Channel CEO, Cindy Villarreal. "We saw the injustice of so many of these innocent kids being subjected to the cruelty of bullying, and we felt that Secret Diary 2 was the perfect outlet for us to make a stand against bullying of any kind, which is destructive to the spirit industry." Dee Temples is deeply moved to see Cheer Channel reaching out to young cheerleaders who have suffered the sting of bullying and is excited to take part in the Anti-Bullying campaign. "I remember how much cyber-bullying hurt both my feelings and my reputation. I wish nobody had to ever experience bullying on any level," said Temples. "I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Cheer Channel''s Anti-Bullying Campaign, and to help prevent bullying in the spirit industry." The Cheer Channel campaign against bullying will run from February through April 2013, and will coincide with the Secret Diary 2 series.
