Follow on Google News | Does My Bum Look Big In This? Well Choose The Wrong Swimsuit And It May Well Do!By: abiento The warmer rays of Spring sunshine are upon them and whilst the males strut and preen convinced that their overhanging bellies can become a taut six pack if they start doing sit ups 4 days before they go on holiday, the females search their wardrobes gathering old bikinis and swimsuits. Subsequent parading in front of the nearest mirror assures them that their 14 year old swimsuit still fits and will give the necessary wow factor as they saunter down to the pool side. The British seem to have a tradition when going on holiday. The men pack their brown sandals and calf length black socks along with shorts that appear to pay homage to Charles Hawtrey in a Carry On film, a selection of ill-fitting T-shirts emblazoned with slogans or jokes that are funny to approximately seven people on the planet, oh, and a pair of speedos®. The women pack their white linen trousers (complete with white thong that they would usually never ever wear so spend the whole holiday complaining about how uncomfortable it is),white tops, white sandals in fact anything that is white is crammed into their suitcases, oh, and a bikini – unusually not white for some reason, that they bought in Ibiza when they were 17. Whilst we can`t all look like supermodels, there are certain things we can do to make the most of our newly purchased swimwear. Let`s forget about the guys as they seem to have a hereditary gene that makes them feel like their swimwear looks great no matter how old it is, what it looks like or what hangs out or in some cases, sticks out! No, we are talking about busy working women, mums, housewives, grandmas, house cleaners, school taxi drivers and “no you look fantastic in your speedos®”-ers. These are the people who need a holiday but don`t always have the time to think of themselves so we will with a few simple tips on how to choose swimwear for women that fits and will make you look stunning. The first thing to consider is that swimsuits are invariably manufactured from a material known as Lycra®. This material is clever and stretches easily so is comfortable to wear. The other thing about it though is that it also expands by about 10mm when it gets wet. What is 10mm between friends we hear you say? Well 10mm can mean the difference between a good looking swimsuit or bikini or a badly fitting one that hangs off you and spoils the whole effect. The mistake some women make when choosing new swimwear is that they choose a size that is too large thinking that it will will make them look smaller. Because of this slight expansion of material, what you really need to be selecting is a slightly tighter fit. As a guide, look for a bit of fabric “pucker” around your bottom and bust area. The reason we need this pucker is quite simple. When you jump into the pool or the sea, the natural fabric expansion when it gets wet will remove this puckering and make your swimsuit or bikini a perfect fit. There are also some easy tricks that give excellent results with just a bit of thought before you buy. None of us are the perfect shape but choosing the right swimwear can make anyone look fantastic. If you are not too keen on your stomach, try a swimsuit with a front firming panel or block colours and complicated patterns which will break up your silhouette. Got big hips? No problem. Go for a high cut leg line which can give the impression that your hips are smaller or try dark coloured bikini bottoms or a crazy coloured bikini top so that everyone looks up and not down. Tankinis are a fabulous way to disguise thighs. There are some beautiful skirted designs that are perfect for this giving an extremely flattering look to your swimwear. A short tankini can also be great if you have shorter legs and a long body as the extra bit of midriff that shows breaks up how your upper body is viewed by others. Are you a beautiful shapely girl with a fabulous sized bust? Well you should be celebrating and showing off on the beach by taking advantage of the superb plus size swimwear now available from many online stores. Not a plus size? Well don`t forget some of Hollywood`s top stars are not exactly packing in the bust department so you might not be as bad as you think. Look for bikini tops with padding in the cups or one with some fancy ruffles or any design of raised or 3D style fabric in this area to accentuate the shape. Another easy way to guide the viewer to the favourite parts of your body is to go with different coloured tops and bottoms. It used to be that anyone with odd coloured tops and bottoms had just made a packing mistake but not anymore. Be bold and go for some of the new snazzy colours on top and block coloured bottoms or vice versa. One last thing, if you are going out in the sun, make sure you wear sun lotion – re-applying it if you have been swimming and stay out of direct sunlight during the hottest part of the day. Nothing spoils a stunning new swimsuit or bikini than bright red sunburnt skin.
