Follow on Google News | Washington Stage Directors Mitchell Hébert and Jennifer L. Nelson Join Capital Talent AgencyAward-winning stage directors Mitchell Hébert and Jennifer L. Nelson join Capital Talent Agency as its newest directing clients.
Hébert directed The Illusion at Forum Theatre in Silver Spring, MD, and Rabbit Hole at Olney Theatre Center in Maryland, both of which received Helen Hayes Nominations for design and the latter of which received a nomination for Outstanding Ensemble. Hébert most recently directed David Mamet's Glengarry Glen Ross at Round House Theatre in Bethesda, MD, to wide critical acclaim. "In the hands of Hébert, Mamet’s 1984 Pulitzer winner is a funny, darkly enjoyable look at greed gone wild." Among dozens of other productions, Nelson recently directed Raisin in the Sun at Baltimore's Everyman Theatre, which was named the Best Production of 2011 by the Baltimore City Paper, and the world premiere of Necessary Sacrifices at Ford's Theatre. This winter, Nelson also directed Bill Cain's 9 Circles at Forum Theater in Silver Spring, MD, where her "gripping vision . . . condemns the numbing, life altering effects of constant war." Hébert, a Professor of Theatre Performance at the University of Maryland and the Director of a unique co-production of A Midsummer Night's Dream in 2012 between the University and The National Academy of Chinese Theatre Arts, is also a Helen Hayes award-winning actor and a member of the Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company since 1992. Nelson, formerly the Producing Artistic Director of the African Continuum Theatre Company and the Past President of the League of Washington Theaters, is also a successful playwright. Both Hébert and Nelson joined CTA to expand their opportunities to direct in local and regional theaters nationwide. "We are elated that directors of the caliber of Mitchell Hébert and Jennifer L. Nelson have joined our agency," said Roger Yoerges, CTA's founder and Chief Executive Officer. "We set out this year to grow our representation of artists who are involved with the production-side of legit theater, film, and television, and Mitchell's and Jennifer's joining us helps enormously in that regard. We look forward to a wonderful partnership with these talented artists." Hébert and Nelson join award-winning director Jeremy Skidmore as Directing clients of CTA and are among nearly a dozen client-artists who are involved in production, design, and choreography for the stage, television, and film. Capital Talent Agency,™ LLC, founded in 2009, is Washington, DC's only Equity and SAG franchised talent agency, representing more than a hundred actors, designers, directors, and choreographers. www.capitaltalentagency.com End
