"Huginn and Muninn: Thought and Memory" - Imagination Can Take Us From Prison to Uplifting Poetry

SEDRO-WOOLLEY, Wash. - March 11, 2013 - PRLog -- While Tazarian Antonio-Sleipnir Newby was writing these poems in prison, he would send copies to his mother. Unbeknownst to him, she entered one of his poems in an international poetry contest and it won. That poem and many of the others he authored while inprisoned form the basis for his poetry collection Huginn and Muninn.

The author spent 12 years incarcerated by the Federal Bureau of Prisons. During that time he wrote poems to pass the hours, and later in exchange for cigarettes, stamps, and other items the other inmates would offer as barter or trade for a few inspirational words.

This amazing and insightful collection of poems  explore many of life’s major themes, including politics, religion, God, love, heartbreak, and the battle of good versus evil. The poems are written from the perspective of a man whose body was imprisoned, but his creative soul found the inspiration to be free.

About the Author: Tazarian Antonio-Sleipnir Newby was born in Phoenix, but was raised in California, Florida, and Hawaii. Since his release from prison, he’s been living in Sedro-Woolley, a small logging town in Northwest Washington State. Although he is currently recovering from a serious motorcycling accident, motorcycles remain his main passion away from writing. Huginn and Muninn is his first published effort and is dedicated to his mother.
