About the Author: A Connecticut-born university professor of Palestinian descent, since the early 1970s Dr. Samy Abdunnur has lived and worked in some of the most troubled and volatile regions in the Middle East. Over the last 40 years, he has had firsthand experience with every major conflict in the region, including the Egyptian/Israeli conflict of 1972, the Lebanese Civil War in 1974, the siege of Beirut in 1982, the Gulf War in 1990 and the first Intifada in 1992. Currently he resides in Lebanon, near the Syrian border.
