Sarah King BSc. (Hons), ND cand. (2014)​ After being born and raised in Georgetown Ontario, I moved to North Bay and completed my Bachelor of Science in Biology at Nipissing University. While there I had the great pleasure of working as the assistant to the Animal Care Technician, and completed my honours thesis in the Genetics lab. ​ For 2 years leading up to graduation I knew I wanted to be a family physician. But at the time, the universe was telling me that I wasn't meant to be an MD. So to pass the time I entered the Masters program at the University of Guelph in Molecular Genetics. ​ ​​I had an overpowering sense of unhappiness and loneliness of working in a lab full time. All signs were telling me that this also wasn't my path, and I still had a calling to help people; to learn and share that knowledge by teaching others. ​ ​​As soon as I heard about the program, I left Guelph and immediately applied to the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (CCNM), regardless that my application would be late.

The minute I got the call for an interview, I was ecstatic! That was the beginning of my journey in Naturopathic Medicine and to becoming the doctor I had dreamed of being. ​ ​When I'm not studying, I'm a huge bookworm and a kitchen enthusiast - having worked on new and old recipes for 10 years. I'm also still writing and will continue to do so as long as humanly possible. ​So many people have influenced the person I've become. A big part of that is having amazing friends who have always been there for me (my very own Ace Gang), and an amazing workplace full of the most funny and supportive people (my Young's Pharmacy and Homecare family). On top of being already so lucky, I met the man who has become the love of my life, at CCNM, and I've never been so happy and grateful for him. ​ ​​Upon graduating, I hope to work in the field of women and teen's health; teach cooking classes and workout classes; and own my own clinic (with my man, of course). ​ ​​And as always, I let the universe guide me. If I'm receptive to the signs, they are never wrong.
