LOS ANGELES - March 21, 2013 - PRLog -- To cut energy waste and reduce environmental impact, consumers are going mobile this Earth Day with a free app, Light Bulb Finder. The award-winning app enables users to easily find the right energy-efficient lighting for their homes and instantly calculate energy savings, financial payback, and environmental impact.

Switching from conventional incandescent to energy-efficient lighting is one of the fastest and easiest ways to save energy. Energy-efficient light bulbs use up to 80 percent less energy than incandescent bulbs, last up to 25 times longer, and can save a typical U.S. household over $100 on electricity bills every year.

At home or in stores, users input basic information about their current fixtures and incandescent bulb styles. The Light Bulb Finder app recommends energy-saving equivalents with the right light quality, fit and performance. It displays bulb images, detailed specifications, savings, and environmental impact so that users can make informed decisions based on personal priorities.

Users create personal shopping lists for easy reference at local retailers, or they can purchase bulbs directly through the app. In select regions, utilities provide information on bulb rebates and other energy-saving resources through the app.

Named “Best Overall App” by the EPA in its Apps for the Environment Challenge, Light Bulb Finder is brand-neutral and is supported primarily through regional energy-efficiency programs.

“Changing a light bulb isn’t as easy as it used to be. Today, there are many new, efficient models to choose from. Our aim is to offer consumers a quick and convenient way to find energy-saving bulbs that have the light quality they demand and give the best payback,” said Adam Borut, president of Eco Hatchery, developer of Light Bulb Finder.

The free app is available for iPhone and Android smartphones and tablets. To download, visit the iTunes App Store, Google Play or the Amazon App Store and search for “Light Bulb Finder.”
