NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. - March 22, 2013 - PRLog -- Freedom Village Continuing Care Retirement Community hosted a Grand Reopening celebration on Thursday, March 14th for residents, guests and local dignitaries.  Over 350 new friends were greeted by live harp music in the lobby, entertainment by “Broadway Rhapsody”, treated to a tour of the newly remodeled retirement community and then fed like royalty at an International Culinary Tasting buffet prepared by Executive Chef Hugo Lorenzana.

The event was so successful that the tours and dining had to be split into two separate shifts to accommodate all the guests. Those taking the tours experienced firsthand the millions of dollars of improvements made to the Freedom Village community - refreshing/refurbishing throughout, including the lounge and poker room, art studios, library, health club, and a new dining area.

Guests were welcomed by Executive Director, Marianne Casino and Managing Partner, Tom Stringer who praised the longevity of many of their staff members. “We are proud of all of our 270 employees here at Freedom Village and I am also proud of the fact we are debt-free, which means no bank holds a mortgage against us,” announced Mr. Stringer.

The official Grand Reopening ribbon-cutting featured all the Freedom Village owner/partners, Lake Forest Chamber members, Betty Jo Woolett - representing State Senator Mimi Walters, Mayor Pro-Tem of Lake Forest, Kathryn McCullough and Mayor Scott Voigts who presented a proclamation to the group. “...Freedom Village has offered wonderful retirement housing in Lake Forest for 26 years, but it’s more than that...Freedom Village is a real, vibrant community and is truly “home” to all its residents. The City of Lake Forest applauds and appreciates all of you.”

After the ceremonies and guided tours, many of the 300 current residents chatted and mingled with guests and prospective residents as they all ended up in the spacious La Cheminaee Dining Room to taste delicious samples from around the world. The International Culinary Tasting featured: A Taste of Italy, Santa Monica Pier, Mexican Flair, Wild Western Prime Rib Sliders and a dessert finish with Sweet Paris. Along with creating all the fantastic dishes, Freedom Village’s award-winning Chef Hugo personally carved each ice sculpture that adorned the serving tables!
