March 25, 2013 - PRLog -- Brandt Motors, a specialist in electric vehicles, will exhibit for the first time at the Commercial Vehicle Show 2013. The company will showcase its Citélec electric vehicle, the first electric utility vehicle with a modular design, at the trade show for the commercial-vehicle industry. The event will take place from 9 to 11 April at the National Exhibition Centre (NEC) in Birmingham (UK).

Brandt Motors will display Citélec, the first electric modular utility vehicle, at the Commercial Vehicle Show 2013. The company launched the vehicle at the 2012 Paris Motor Show (France) in the autumn and is now seeking a distributor for the UK, which is the main goal when exhibiting at the National Exhibition Centre (NEC). Brandt Motors will be on Stand 3B70 (Hall 3); the trade fair takes place from 9 to 11 April of this year.

It will be the first time that the company, a specialist in high-end electric vehicles suitable for most urban commercial-vehicle activities, exhibits at the trade fair in Birmingham (in central England).

Brandt Motors' Citélec, which is 100% electric, is an environmentally friendly, high-end vehicle: it is both clean and quiet, as well as user friendly. Citélec is also economical: it costs approximately £1 per 100km to run.

Citélec has an innovative, modular design: with nine sections of interchangeable bodywork on the same chassis-cab, the Citélec can be transformed into various electric vehicles, including a flatbed, a van, a pickup, and a tip-up truck. Citélec also has an adaptable trailer that is made up of interchangeable pieces of bodywork, allowing the user to double the vehicle's load-carrying capacity.

Based on the needs expressed by commercial-vehicle users, including local authorities and last-mile couriers, Citélec's design makes it possible to attain a long range as well as high speed and enhanced load capacities.

Citélec performs well in both urban and suburban areas, thanks to a number of features, including a chassis that is made from high-strength steel and features anti-corrosion protection; a cab that is formed from hard-wearing steel; an advanced electric-propulsion system (ACM engine); an energy-recovering facility when decelerating; and, finally, a ZEBRA battery made from nickel and sodium chloride (Ni/NaCI), which is resistant from -40°C to +40°C and which consists of 100% recyclable materials (thanks to the company's use of FIAMM batteries).

The vehicle also features a soft dashboard that is aesthetically pleasing, ergonomically designed and practical. Citélec has a central 7" LCD display control screen, as well as a central locking system. The equipment, throughout the vehicle's interior, is suitable for commercial use.

Citélec also meets high safety requirements, thanks to its four-disc brake system, independent front-wheel suspension, hydraulic shock absorbers, adjustable steering column, and airbags.

When empty, Citélec can travel 336km at 25km/hour (on track) with a top speed of 80km/hour. The vehicle has a load capacity of 600kg (which is equivalent to approximately two 1,000mm x 1,200mm palettes) and a slope-climbing capacity of up to 18% (where acceleration is from 0 to 50km/hour in 11 seconds).

Citélec can be recharged directly on the standard domestic power network (16A/230V) and the battery's memory is unaffected if only partially charged.

Brandt Motors has two significant short-term projects. Firstly, a hybrid version of the Citélec is undergoing a final review for commercial release in the second quarter of 2013. Secondly, the company plans to release a range of electrically assisted bikes and a 50cc electric scooter in the second quarter of 2013.

Currently, the distribution of Citélec is assured by Brandt Motors, thanks to its Lyons Gerland factory (in south-eastern France). However, a number of multi-brand distributors working with Mercedes, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Opel, Piaggio, Renault, Suzuki and Toyota have expressed an interest in distributing Brandt Motor's Citélec throughout France. Internationally, various Belgian, British, Danish, Portuguese and Spanish distributors have already indicated that they are prepared to import Citélec into their respective countries.

Focusing on high-performing, safe vehicles, Brandt Motors aspires to become the only French company to produce 100% electric versions of every mode of transport. The specialist company is keen to meet the new challenges of eco-mobility, with a range of evolving products that are both environmentally sound and economical to run.
