Myrtle Beach Area Home Prices Up - Best Yearly Increase Since 2006

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - March 26, 2013 - PRLog -- Myrtle Beach area home and condo prices rose AGAIN the first Quarter 2013 , starting the year with the biggest annual increase in six-and-a-half years in a fresh sign the housing market recovery remains on track.
“There is about 1/3 less inventory on the market as there was last year at this time”  Jerry Pinkas  noted Myrtle Beach Real Estate Expert   “It’s the dynamics of supply and demand. With less supply and more demand, the prices will continue to go up.  Interest rates remaining at record lows,  combined with low real estate prices,  plus the lure of the beach and ocean,  real estate in the Myrtle Beach area has a lot of pent up demand from buyers wanting to buy but holding off for years.  This combination along with the national economy improving has made the market really move.  
The S&P Case/Shiller Home Price Index has shown real estate prices in the top 20 metropolitan areas in the nation has climbed 8.1 percent year-over-year. In addition the pricing has gained 1 percent month-on-month in January alone on a seasonally adjusted basis, topping expectations. Resort real estate sales in 2013 look exceed all sales expectations.
The housing market got back on its feet last year as prices rose nationally, when inventories tightened and real estate sales improved. That momentum has carried into 2013 and data last week showed home resales hit a three-year high in February.
