Miller Construction Co. Completes Fisher Island Golf Club and Racquet Club Renovations

MIAMI - March 29, 2013 - PRLog -- Adding luster to two nationally top-ranked country club amenities, Miller Construction Company has completed the major renovation of both the Racquet Club and The Links golf club at the private island community of Fisher Island Club.

The 6000-square-foot golf clubhouse is a focal point for the seaside course that Golf World’s Ron Whitten has rated among the Top Ten 9-hole courses in the U.S.  After stripping back the clubhouse interior, Miller Construction Company built out the space with luxurious millwork and natural stone finishes.  The new tiled roof complements the historic design of Fisher Island Club, which was the 1920’s-era estate of the Vanderbilt family.  

Designed by Roger Piper Architect, Inc. and interior designer Meryl Deutsch & Associates, the golf clubhouse interior’s welcoming, elegant space flows from the high-ceilinged lobby, pro shop and dining room to the spacious, roofed waterfront dining patio.  Miller also fully renovated the golf clubhouse’s kitchen to provide for smoother work flow in limited space.

         For Fisher Island Club’s Racquet Club, which Tennis Magazine has ranked #1 in the nation’s East Coast region, the Miller team ensured the busy facilities remained fully operational throughout the interior renovation.  Baths and locker room areas were completed in advance to minimize any inconvenience to members and guests.  Surrounded by the Racquet Club’s grass, hard and Har-Tru clay courts, the Racquet Club building now features extensive millwork and other high-end finishes throughout its pro shop and conference facilities. Roger Piper Architect, Inc. designed the tennis club renovation.

         Also at Fisher Island Club, Miller has recently completed renovation of the 24,000-square-foot Spa and Fitness Center and updated the interiors of several historic cottages.  Access to the island site is only by barge or ferry, which made strategic scheduling of crews and staging of deliveries essential, according to Miller Project Executive Chris Hannaka.
