The program will be held on Wednesday, May 22, from 6:30-8 pm at The Cancer Treatment and Wellness Center at Northern Westchester Hospital Center, 400 East Main Street, Mount Kisco, NY 10549. This program offers valuable information for ALL women: Those who never experienced breast cancer can learn about screening, risk factors and their personal health needs. For those who have experienced breast cancer, bring friends and family members for this learning opportunity and help them be proactive about their health. Topics will include: • What is “dense breast tissue” and how does this impact cancer screening, diagnosis and risk? • How to identify your personal risks for breast cancer and what you can do to change them. • The latest research on risk reduction. • How benign breast disease can increase your risk for breast cancer. • What is the true risk for breast cancer with a positive family history? • Understanding the complexities of genetic breast cancer risk and recommendations for personal surveillance. SPEAKERS: Dr. Karen Arthur, Breast Surgeon: Dr. Arthur is Board-certified in surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. She is also an active member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons. She currently serves as the medical director of the Northern Westchester Hospital Breast Institute at Yorktown. Dr. Arthur is affiliated with both NWH and Hudson Valley Hospital, and since 2001 has dedicated 100% of her practice to breast surgery. Nancy Cohen, Genetic Counselor: Ms. Cohen holds a Master of Science degree in Human Genetics and is certified by the American Board of Genetic Counseling. She also completed the City of Hope Advanced Course in Cancer Risk Assessment. Ms. Cohen has a special interest in the management of women at high risk for breast cancer. She currently serves as the cancer genetic counselor for Northern Westchester Hospital where she initiated the cancer genetic counseling program. Mary Greco, FNP-C, Nurse Practitioner: This is the 15th Educational Forum presented jointly by Support Connection, Inc. and Northern Westchester Hospital. The Cancer Treatment and Wellness Center at Northern Westchester Hospital offers the most advanced diagnostic, treatment, and follow-up procedures utilizing state of the art therapies and technology.
