Bitcoin Petition on Whitehouse.gov Seeks to End Government Interference in Bitcoin

New petition on whitehouse.gov seeks to end US Government involvement in the suppression of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.

WASHINGTON, Wash. - April 11, 2013 - PRLog -- After several recent DDOS (Distributed Denial of Service) attacks on Mt. Gox, the worlds largest Bitcoin trading exchange, a new petition has appeared on the whitehouse.gov website seeking to end U.S. Government interference in bitcoin trading and the private operations of bitcoin exchanges.

The petition reads:

Cease all Actions, Overt or Covert, Intended to Interfere with Free Market Enterprises: Bitcoin and Mt. Gox Exchange.

There is evidence to suggest that recent attacks in the media and through so called DDOS (distributed denial of service attacks) on crypto-currency exchanges such as Mt. Gox are being run by elements of the U.S. government. This petition is created to send a message to officials that the people do not wish public funds to be used for operations intended to interfere in the business of innovative free market enterprises that create growth and opportunities for taxpayers.

The petition currently has 5 supporters. An official response is required by the Whitehouse if the petition succeeds in gaining enough supporters.

Bitcoin is a controversial new currency that is not controlled by any government run central bank. It has gain popularity very quickly in recent days as its price has reached a peak of $266 USD per Bitcoin.

News of the petition is spreading through the alternative media and on cryptocurrency message boards. Some have been criticizing the petition for spreading conspiracy theories, but others have agreed with the direct wording and have been signing on to show their support of free market innovation.
