April 16, 2013 - PRLog -- Digital forensics and the threats of cyber-attacks are growing at alarming rates will be the focus of a free community forum sponsored by the Government Technology Institute at Harrisburg University of Science and Technology in PA. Scheduled for 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., May 16th in the Auditorium at Harrisburg University, the “Digital Forensics” forum will feature nationally-recognized speakers Stephen Howard and William Folson from TechPort Solutions.

There were over 8 million zero-day unique malware attacks on US interests in 2012. That number was exceeded in the first three months of 2013. At the same time, the next five years will see a shortage of 50,000 cyber-security professionals. The target of these cyber-attacks is sensitive data collected and stored as a by-product of our digital world.

This forum addresses what the IT Professional should know about digital forensics and will cover topics such as The Digital Trail; The Role of Digital Forensics in Criminal Investigations; Recovering Evidence, Call Detail Records and Cell Tower Analysis; and IT Security vs Forensics - Unintended Consequences.
