NEW YORK - April 17, 2013 - PRLog -- NEW YORK, NY The SOHO International Film Festival closed its 4th annual celebration of independent filmmaking worldwide this past Friday, April 12th.

“We are thrilled to have broken so many records this year such as screening films from the most countries ever, as well as including the most women and young filmmakers.  We also had more celebrities attending like Julia Stiles, who came in support of producer Julie Pacino’s film, “Billy Bates,” and beloved character actor Luis Guzman, who went undercover as a homeless person for his docudrama, “The NIMBY Experience,” part of a larger project that has celebrities going undercover to expose the underbelly of causes their passionate about,” said Sibyl Santiago, executive director and head of marketing for the festival.

The festival has experienced stellar growth in the past three years, bringing out celebrities in droves such as the ever dapper and handsome “Mambo King” Armand Assante, Dominic Purcell from “Prison Break,” AnnaLynn McCord from “Nip/Tuck,” Kevin Brown – Dot Com from 30 Rock, NY Giants coach Tom Coughlin, Tom Pelphrey, Joe D’Onofrio, Erin Karpluk, Patrick Fischler, 80’s Star Diane Franklin, and  German director Uwe Boll with the premiere of his much talked about film, “Assault on Wall Street”.

“General Hospital’s” Jon Lindstrom’s screening of his film “How We Got Away With It,” was attended by many of his very well-known Soap Opera colleagues Austin Peck, McCaleb Burnett & Briane Moncrief to name a few, and Latin actors FrankyG and Jeffrey DeSerrano, stars of the eerie religious thriller, “36 Saints,” by the up-and-coming “talk of the town” Joey Dedio. The last film shot in Seaside Heights before Hurricane Sandy, “West End,”also screened, starring Neal Bledsoe, William Duvall, Peter Onorati & Melissa Archer, all of whom were in attendance. Elke Gazzara, wife of the late consummate and prolific character actor, Ben Gazzara, who passed away before the documentary on his life simply called “Gazzara” was completed, also attended with her friends and family as a tribute to her late husband’s astonishing body of work and personal life.

The festival was made possible by its partners: NiteTables, AnestasiA Vodka, Domaines Barons de Rothschild’s Los Vascos Wines, Flatiron Hotel, Ayala Land Premiere, OKVenue and Greenhouse NYC. Giveaways were also provided by Illyissimo, New Era Caps and Mercy Energy Drink with official festival photography by Champion Eye Media.
