LAS VEGAS - April 22, 2013 - PRLog -- When Las Vegas city officials recently held a dedication ceremony and flipped the switch powering up 15,000 new solar panels providing energy at a nearby wastewater treament plant, the only group in attendance more excited than city leaders was the project management team at Bombard Renewable Energy.

Las Vegas-based Bombard Renewable Energy teamed with Martin Harris Construction, JBA Electrical Engineer, and JMA Architecture Studios to engineer, procure and construct a 3.5 Megawatt solar PV power plant at the City of Las Vegas Water Pollution Control Facility. The solar power system is located on 18 plus acres of previously unused land owned by the City of Las Vegas.

“We are proud to be part of such an important project to the city of Las Vegas and one that will provide clean energy for the city for many years to come,” said Chris Brooks, Director of Bombard Renewable Energy.

The $20 million project will generate 6 million kilowatt hours of electricity annually. Site improvements included fencing and access gates, a new trail along the wash separating the project site from the WPCF, a perimeter road system, site grading and provisions for communication with the existing supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system.

Bombard Renewable Energy, a division of Bombard Electric, LLC., has been doing business in Nevada since 1982 and has installed over 60 Megawatts of solar photovoltaic (solar PV) electric systems in both the public and private sectors.

Solar  Power Magazine 100 in its Dec. 21, 2012 issue named Bombard Renewable Energy of Las Vegas to its “2012 Top 100 Solar Contractors” list ranking the Southern Nevada commercial electrical contractor at No. 13.

In 2011, Bombard Renewable Energy was hired as prime contractor on the Stillwater Solar Geothermal Hybrid Project approximately 12 miles northeast of Fallon, NV. The project involved combining a 26-megawatt solar PV plant with a 65-megawatt geothermal plant – a feat that had never been done before. More than 375 Nevada workers were employed on the massive project, creating full-time jobs that paid over $31 an hour, plus health benefits.
