NEW YORK - April 24, 2013 - PRLog -- On May 9th, 2013, celebrating it's 2nd annual year, Go Green for Fashion NYC (http://GoGreen.LawrenceBlake.com) will feature a live runway presentation from some of New York's favorite eco-friendly fashion designers including STUDY NY (www.study-ny.com) and Born Again Vintage (www.b-artise.com). The evening will recognize individuals committed to increasing awareness of and the accessibility to the benefits of eco-friendly design and production within the global fashion community. Go Green for Fashion NYC will feature special live music performances alongside heart-warming speeches from veterans of the green fashion industry, and the entire evening is proud to benefit ProjectArt, an NYC-based free arts education organization that allows youth to create art without limits (www.projectart.org). Eco-forward lifestyle brand Sprout Watches (www.SproutWatches.com) is excited to present the first 100 guests at Go green for Fashion NYC a complimentary timepiece from their recent collection.

Honorees at Go Green for Fashion NYC include Kate Sekules, founder of ReFashioner (www.refashioner.com), Cyrena Lee, Director at Refashioner, Starre Vartan, founder of Eco-Chick (www.eco-chick.com), Jasmin Chua, Managing Editor at Ecouterre (www.ecouterre.com), Yuka Yoneda, Daniel Silverstein, founder of eco-fashion label 100% NY (www.100percentny.com) and one of thirteen successful designers on NBC’s reality competition series “Fashion Star”, NYC Editor at Inhabitat (www.Inhabitat.com/NYC), and award-winning designer Carrie Parry (www.carrieparry.com). A special keynote speech will be presented by Kristen Arnett, founder of the Green Beauty Team (www.greenbeautyteam.com). Live music performances are scheduled from Devin White (www.devinwhitenow.com) and GMims.

Tara St James, founder of STUDY NY, lends her talent and skills to various organizations, including The Uniform Project (a fundraising platform using sustainable design to raise money for underprivileged children) and the Awamaki Lab (a program that fosters cross-cultural partnerships between young designers and Peru's Awamaki indigenous weaver collective), where she facilitates discussions about the intersection of sustainability, ethical sourcing, and product innovation.

Bridgett Artise, founder of Born Again Vintage, is a wonder to fashion. The way she has snuck up on our beloved industry has only left us wondering where she has been all our lives- especially in those moments when we had a few yards of fabric to spare and lacked the wondrous vision she so greatly possesses. Surprisingly, she is a FIT graduate who’s path was to be a buyer, and after working for the likes of Claire’s, Strawberry’s and Bloomingdales it seemed to be a done deal. Nowadays she wears many hats, some of which include designer of Born Again Vintage, event planner, professor at the Fashion Institute of Technology, titled Vintage Expert by the New York Times and most importantly, mother of two beautiful children.

ProjectArt is an award-winning organization developing a new model of arts education, one that allows youth to actualize their artistic visions while building their self-esteem and advance as all-around achievers. In two years, ProjectArt’s year-round, after-school visual arts education program has served hundreds while it's advocacy initiative Walk the Talk, has brought awareness for the critical need of arts education, to hundreds of thousands of people. ProjectArt was founded by Adarsh Alphons in 2010.

Sprout Watches is an eco-forward lifestyle brand, which utilizes the highest quality materials, while striving to protect the Earth’s natural resources.
