Marmotte Mountain appoints Travel PR

Travel PR is now representing Marmotte Mountain, a luxury, boutique ski and cycling tour operator.

April 24, 2013 - PRLog -- Based in the French Alps, Marmotte Mountain offers three options – Tour de France-themed cycling holidays in July, luxurious ski chalet accommodation in the Chamonix Valley in the winter months and summer chalet holidays. Whether skiing or cycling, considerable emphasis is placed on excellent food, drink and service.

- SUMMER CYCLING

Combine road cycling with fine dining and wine-tasting on Marmotte Mountain’s luxury Tour de France-themed cycling holidays which, this year, tie in with the race’s 100th edition, in July. Two itineraries are on offer: a brand-new ten-night villa-based trip and a ten-night hotel-based tour – both departing 12 July.

Led by the Australian cyclist Greg Griffiths, who was Chief Commissaire (judge) for mountain biking at the London Olympics, the brand-new villa-based 2013 tour follows carefully-designed daily cycle routes which intercept the Tour de France race at strategic key viewing points. Guests follow the race from Provence to Paris and spend a week at the Domaine de Mourchon wine estate, thus combining the Marmotte Mountain chalets’ trademark qualities: hospitality and gastronomy.

The hotel-based tour also stretches from Provence to Paris, taking in Mont Ventoux, the southern Alps and the famous Alpe d'Huez mountain stage. Similar to the new tour, guests will enjoy cycle rides and spectacular views of the peloton as it tackles the famous cols, alongside exquisite French food and wine.

Taking in the crucial last ten stages of the Tour de France, each itinerary costs €5,300 or £4,600 pp (two sharing) including ten nights’ luxury villa or hotel accommodation, all breakfasts, seven other meals (five on the hotel stay), travel in France (by luxury minibus and TGV train), a commemorative cycling jersey, expert guides and support staff. (Note the high concentration of staff to guests – one riding guide per six guests – with many more support staff). Both tours depart 12 July.

- WINTER SKIING

With five luxury properties in and around the village of Argentière – sleeping from eight to twelve guests – Marmotte Mountain’s chalets are kitted out to the highest of standards; think hot tubs, open log fires, spacious living areas and free Wi-Fi. The various chalets each have their own character and highlights, from a cinema room in one, to a solarium sunroom with views of Mont Blanc, and yet another which enjoys a magical pine forest setting. As well suited to families as they are for friends, each chalet is run by a carefully-picked chef-and-host team and a great deal of emphasis is placed on the high quality of food and wine, with chefs having worked in prestigious establishments including The Savoy’s River Restaurant, Hix, Gauthier Soho and Moro in London.

A short transfer from Geneva airport, all five chalets are within easy access of a variety of ski areas including Les Grands Montets, Le Tour, Le Brévent and La Flégère, as well as Courmayeur in Italy, the famous Vallée Blanche and endless off-piste opportunities. With ten years’ experience in the area, a concierge service caters to every guest’s need and special care is taken in matching each client with the perfect guide or instructor, whether it’s for ski touring, private lessons (from novice to advanced), heli-skiing or non-ski activities, such as snow-shoeing or husky-sledding.

A week staying at the chalet Marmotte Mountain Retreat in winter costs from €6,400/approx £5,462 or £683 pp (eight sharing) including in-resort transfers (including to/from Geneva airport), seven nights’ luxury chalet accommodation, daily breakfast and afternoon tea, a four-course dinner with wines on five of the nights and a welcome drink on arrival. Flights extra.

- SUMMER CHALETS

Catered and self-catered chalet stays are also available in summer. During these months, Chamonix is a Mecca for outdoor sports and Marmotte Mountain can arrange an array of activities including white-water rafting, Via Ferrata expeditions, paragliding, hiking and Mont Blanc climbs.

A week staying at the Libellule chalet in summer costs from €5,000/approx £4,294 or £358 pp (12 sharing) for a self-catering stay or from €8,500/approx £7,302 or £609 pp (12 sharing) for a catered stay, including seven nights’ luxury chalet accommodation, daily breakfast and afternoon tea, a four-course dinner with wines on five of the nights and a welcome drink on arrival. Flights extra.
