This delightful autobiography details the authors early years as a child, realising that her parents were worried but not understanding the cause.  Life in Germany was at first normal for this little girl, degenerating into tragedy as the world changed.  It details the escape from Germany to UK of most of the family, and the difficulties of settling into this new country.

It sounds incredible to us today, but she was actually bullied at school for being German, who were the enemy during the wartime years.  She didn't understand that she had escaped.
