Follow on Google News | Teleperformance receives the PEZA Outstanding Community Project of the Year AwardBy: Teleperformance Philippines David Rizzo, Teleperformance Asia Pacific President, accepted the award on behalf of the company. The PEZA Outstanding Community Project of the Year Award honors organizations that exemplify best practices through their corporate social responsibility initiatives. Teleperformance was recognized for its important role in advancing the welfare of many underprivileged sectors in Philippine society, as well as protecting the environment through rehabilitation and awareness programs. Commenting on the award, David Rizzo said, “We are deeply honored to have been recognized by PEZA for our contribution to the community. This award is a commendation to our Teleperformance employee volunteers, who have selflessly devoted their time, talent, and even a portion of their income so they can help uplift the spirits of the less-fortunate and aid in building a better environment for them.” Brian Johnson, Teleperformance Philippines Managing Director, noted, “The Outstanding Community Project of the Year Award is a true honor for our heroes – the men and women of Teleperformance who have brought inspiration and hope to the community. We are greatly inspired by this award and aim to keep giving and caring for our community and the environment.” Since 2006, Teleperformance has actively implemented its humanitarian and advocacy programs in the Philippines through its corporate social responsibility arm, Citizen of the World and Citizen of the Planet, with primary focus on helping children, the elderly and those affected by natural disasters. The company’s flagship corporate social responsibility project is the Teleperformance Village located in Tanay, Rizal. Established in 2010 in partnership with Gawad Kalinga, this community initiative aimed to provide shelter for families displaced by Typhoon Ondoy (Ketsana) that struck the Philippines in 2009. Since then, thirty-six homes, a multi-purpose hall, computer center, and a day-care school have been built and the village has flourished as a productive community. This was made possible by the volunteer hours and financial contributions from Teleperformance teams across the Philippines, as well as donations by Teleperformance employees from around the world. In 2012, a total of 13,000 hours were devoted by employee volunteers working with partner institutions. In addition to Gawad Kalinga, Teleperformance continues to support the Philippine Blood Center for blood-donation activities, the Philippine Red Cross in aiding typhoon victims, the National Children’s Hospital and Kythe Foundation in attending to sick children, White Cross Orphanage and Bantug Day Care Center in caring for orphans, and Mary Mother of Mercy Home for the Elderly and Abandoned in nursing the elderly. Teleperformance likewise promoted environmental protection and awareness campaigns, having initiated tree-planting activities in Rizal and Bacolod, and supporting the rehabilitation of the La Mesa Ecopark in Quezon City.
