K.A.W.S. Marketing Group Holds Successful Fundraiser for Operation Smile

ALPHARETTA, Ga. - May 6, 2013 - PRLog -- Approximately 1 in every 600 children is born with a cleft lip or cleft palate, and about ten percent of those children do not live to see their first birthday.  Operation Smile was founded in 1982 and has since performed over 200,000 surgeries worldwide.  These procedures cost only $240 per child and can be completed in as little as 45 minutes.  Operation Smile not only provides free care and safe surgeries for these children, but they also train medical teams in country to continue their work and help them establish self-sufficiency.  Their mission is to help these countries have the ability to repair cleft lips and palates at birth.

The goal that the team at K.A.W.S. Marketing Group had in mind at the start of this fundraising endeavor was to raise enough money to pay for one of these surgical procedures and save a child’s life.  They spent a whole weekend baking cookies, Rice Krispies treats, and hundreds of brownies.  The team went business to business selling their baked goods, and at the end of the day on Monday, they had already raised over $220.00, almost enough for one surgery.  With an online donation the next day of $25.00, they had met their goal to save a child’s life and now set their goal higher to pay for a second procedure.  They went out business to business again on Thursday to sell the rest of the baked goods, and by the end of the day had raised a total of $469.18, almost enough for the second surgery!  They had enough brownies left for one more day of sales over the weekend, and blew their goal of $480.00 out of the water.  After just one week, their bake sale had raised a total of $759.52.  The team was ecstatic that they raised enough for not one, not two, but three surgical procedures!  

K.A.W.S.
