WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - May 8, 2013 - PRLog -- ASPIRA Palm Beach announced that it will be hosting its Youth Award Ceremony this Saturday, May 11 at Atlantis Country Club in Lake Worth. During the event, local high school seniors from schools such as John I. Leonard High School, Lake Worth High School, Santaluces High School and Forest Hill Community High School will receive college scholarships. Also, youth and families from Palm Beach State College, Conniston Middle school and Palmetto, Highland, Heritage, Berkshire, Meadow Park and Belvedere Elementary schools will attend.

The award ceremony, an ASPIRA annual event, has taken place in Palm Beach County since 1996. Last year, 121 people attended the event, where six high school seniors and one Palm Beach State student received $5,000 in scholarships.

The mission of ASPIRA of Florida is to develop the leadership capacity of area Puerto Rican, Latino and other youth through a variety of leadership development opportunities. This event is a prime example of ASPIRA's dedication to this mission: students aiming to improve leadership skills and pursue a college education.

According to Cathy Anaya-Wolf, Director "The ASPIRA Youth Award Ceremony is an event that brings together students, families and communities to celebrate the achievements of our hard-working ASPIRANTES throughout the year. ASPIRANTES get to use their newly learned leadership skills to give each other awards, speak in public and to realize that all of their hard work makes a difference."

ASPIRA's Youth Leadership programs are funded by Prime Time Palm Beach County, the City of West Palm Beach and the United Way of Palm Beach County.

ASPIRA Palm Beach is located at 5913 South Dixie Highway, Suite D in West Palm Beach. Please call (561) 533-9790 for more information and tickets to the award luncheon. On the internet: www.aspirafl.org (http://www.aspirafl.org/?utm_source=Aspira+Palm+Beach+Lun...)
