May 15, 2013 - PRLog -- The Blue Water Navy Vietnam Veterans Association is asking for people to show their driving support this Memorial Day. The Association is selling bumper stickers, at $5.00 a piece, with 100% of the profits being used to help gain benefits for veterans. The bumper stickers ship anywhere in the US and can be purchased via PayPal or by using any major credit card. http://bluewaternavy.org/mainstore1.htm

“The biggest form of support is to have people bring awareness to our cause.  If someone purchases a five dollar bumper sticker or makes a call to their local congressman or woman, we appreciate the effort,” said John Rossie, Executive Direction. “The Veterans we represent were supposed to have their health and financial benefits. A loophole in the law is preventing this from happening.  Five dollars can get our organization’s name in front of thousands of cars each day. I truly hope the public steps up to the plate.”

According to Cancer.org, and even VA.gov/AgentOrange, the U.S. military sprayed an estimated twenty million gallons of herbicides in Vietnam to remove jungle foliage. Agent Orange is a toxic chemical with devastating effects and strong links to several forms of cancer and numerous neurological diseases.  “We’re fighting to help Veterans cover the costs for the medical expenses directly related to their exposure to Agent Orange during service. It should be as simple as approving the benefits. But, it’s not- it has become political,” continued Rossie.

Initially congress passed a law that required the VA to provide coverage to all Vietnam veterans who had illnesses directly related to Agent Orange exposure. In 2002 the VA, in what the The Blue Water Navy Vietnam Veterans Association alleges as “possible selective discrimination”, decided to provide the health care and disability benefits only to “boots on the ground” service members. The Navy has been excluded ever since. Agent Orange has been verified, through various studies and reports, as a wide spreading chemical that was able to reach Navy ships through the air and waterborne distribution routes.
