KOTELI Earn Green America's Silver Level Certified Business Seal.By: Koteli Inc. Koteli completed Green America’s assessment and was thrilled to find that the Green America Standards Board granted Koteli a Silver level certification as a Green Business. Javier Zambrano, Vice-President of Koteli Inc., had this to say about the achievement: Since it’s founding in 2012, Koteli has been dedicated to the production of reusable/recyclable all-purpose bags. However, the business has always been driven by a desire to improve and maintain the quality of the natural marine environments that the founders grew to love so much as avid deep-sea divers. One of those divers, and Koteli’s co-founder, Ethan Narro: “Up to 80% of post-consumer plastic waste, much of which comes from disposable plastic bags that are commonly used in grocery stores and shopping malls, ends up washed into the ocean. These plastics, especially bags, which sea turtles and other marine animals mistake for jellyfish (a main component of their diets), prove poisonous and deadly. That’s why Koteli donates 10% of all online bag sales to the charity SEE-Turtles in order to help with their Billion Baby Turtles Campaign. This project, along with the use of soy-based inks and durable green materials in the production of our bags, represent our focus on creating what we like to call a ‘bag with a conscience.’” Koteli is looking forward to completing more of Green America’s green business initiatives toward it’s goal of gaining the Gold level certification, which is reserved for a highly select group of brands that keep environmental accountability and social responsibility at their core.
