By: CSULA The five-day seminar is designed to highlight new or improved analysis methods, as well as interesting casework and research presentations. It is also an opportunity to network with colleagues from other forensic laboratories. The CAC Spring 2013 Seminar will take place Monday, May 20, through Friday, May 24, at the Pasadena Hilton. CSULA Professors Kathy Roberts (chairperson) Workshops to be featured throughout the seminar will focus on the following themes: • Forensic Injury Biomechanics • Spectroscopy for the Forensic Sciences • Admissibility Challenges in Comparative Analysis • Gross Anatomy • Of What We Are Made: Histology (lecture & laboratory) • DNA • Forensic Anthropology Also, there will be a panel discussion on “The Role of DNA in Prosecuting Non-Stranger Sexual Assault.” Established in 1953, the CAC works to foster an exchange of ideas and information within the field of criminalistics through a wide range of events (study groups meetings, bi-yearly seminars, training and research endowments), financial assistance for training for new criminalists, and many other activities.
