G GALLERY ART EXHIBIT “ASYLUM” SPONSORED BY LONG ISLAND CRISIS CENTER IN BELLMORE: IN HONOR OF

MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH, MAY 18, 2013 at 7:30pm

G Gallery started with a grant in January 2013 with the purpose of providing a place for local artists to exhibit their work.

G Gallery Owner, Liz DiMaggio, wanted to create a cultural arts experience for the Bellmore and surrounding communities to lift up those impacted by Hurricane Sandy.

Liz DiMaggio was inspired to open G Gallery by her late Aunt Helen Gerardi.. Helen was an educator and provided Liz with her first brush with the arts and theatre.

G Gallery attracts an eclectic group of Long Island & New York artists that exhibit their work in an effort to bring awareness to important causes such as Mental Health Awareness Month.  G Gallery is featuring beautiful works of art at an event this weekend Saturday, May, 18th from 7:30-9:30pm in honor of Mental Health Awareness Month.

The “Asylum” event is being sponsored by Long Island Crisis Center (LICC) located at 2740 Martin Avenue in Bellmore, NY 11710.  LICC provides 24/7 free, high quality, confidential and non-judgmental services and programs to support and empower Long Islanders at critical times in their lives.

G Galley Owner, Liz DiMaggio, has been a resident of North Merrick for 23 years.  Liz has a background in Social Work and has dedicated her career to helping people overcome difficult life circumstances. “Bringing a cultural arts experience that focuses on important social issues in the local community is a main objective of G Gallery. I hope my Aunt Helen would be very proud,” says Liz DiMaggio.

A community-oriented Art Gallery that supports various organizations and local artists is the first of its kind here in Bellmore, Long Island. For additional information about G Gallery, please contact Liz at 516-376-2737 or email liztash@aol.com.
