BATTLESBRIDGE, U.K. - May 20, 2013 - PRLog -- Much to the delight of the management team, who were required to revamp their internal processes in light of the new EU timber legislation, Green Apple has been implementing its brand new ‘due diligence’ system with great success since the laws came into full force on 3rd March. Staff have now been running their very own ‘due diligence’ programme for over a month with great results and virtually no disruption to services, say staff members at the company’s headquarters in Battlesbridge, Essex.

Green Apple is committed to ethical timber harvesting practices and welcomes the introduction of the new legislation, even though it requires that all staff record the origins of all wood products that pass their hands. Operators and traders are obliged to note down a description of the timber and check the name and address of the original supplier, along with various other details outlined by the Regulation.

As a representative from the buying team explains, the firm’s success with the introduction of the new requirements wasn’t down to pure luck.

“Like most flooring retailers, we were naturally concerned that the new laws would require us to spend more time filling in masses of paperwork, and would therefore interrupt our internal operations quite considerably,” he says. “To minimise disruption, we made sure we were prepared for the new legislation well in advance. From the moment the changes were announced back in December 2010, we’ve been considering all advice from the European Commission and adapting its recommended Responsible Purchasing Policy to suit the needs of our business.”

Green Apple Flooring supplies an extensive range of solid wood, engineered and laminate flooring to the UK.  The company is proud to stock flooring and maintenance products from some of the best-known flooring brands in Europe, including Quickstep and Elka, at extremely competitive prices.  Visit the company’s website for more information or call 0800 002 9525 to speak to a member of staff directly.
