BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. - May 20, 2013 - PRLog -- Three Southwest Florida businesses are finalists for the 2013 Business Ethics Award presented by the Uncommon Friends Foundation. They are the Harry Chapin Food Bank, Smart Companies, and Ted Todd Insurance. The winner will be announced during the foundation’s Uncommon Evening on Thursday, June 6, at Harborside Convention Center, Fort Myers.

The finalists for this 8th annual award were selected from an original pool of nominees from all over Southwest Florida. The award is presented in recognition of the critical importance of ethical leadership in today’s businesses and will be presented to the business that exemplifies the highest standards of ethical behavior.  The nominations were reviewed by an independent panel of ethics experts from across the country.

The Harry Chapin Food Bank of Southwest Florida works with more than 150 partner agencies in Lee, Hendry, Glades, Charlotte, and Collier counties to provide emergency food to more than 30,000 Southwest Floridians in need each month.  Established in 1983, this non-profit led by a Board of Directors and Al Brislain, CEO and President, is committed to a set of community values including collaboration, advocacy, service, diversity, empowerment, stewardship, accountability and transparency.

Smart Companies manufactures, installs and services whole-house storm protection products; smart home technology systems; and solar and energy solutions for home and office.  Established in 1996, Smart Companies has 97 employees led by Owner and Principal Executive Brian D. Rist. By incorporating “Eight Principles of Quality Service,” the company ensures the decisions made every day are ethically driven.

Ted Todd Insurance Agency, located in Bonita Springs, has 50 employees. The agency is committed to operating its business with honesty and integrity, embracing all aspects of Allstate Insurance Company’s Code of Ethics as its bedrock foundation, putting the customer’s needs at the center of everything they do. Ted A. Todd is the Agency Principal.

Past recipients of the Business Ethics Award are HomeBanc Mortgage Corp., WilsonMiller, Inc., Bonita Bay Group, Shell Point Retirement Community, Markham Norton Mosteller Wright & Co., Conditioned Air, and Hope HealthCare Services.
