Local artist's work to be featured in Harcourt House Art Market event

May 21, 2013 - PRLog -- EDMONTON, AB — Internationally recognized artist and photographer Alexis Marie Chute will be one of the local artists and designers displaying arts and crafts during the upcoming Harcourt House Art Market in the House fundraising event on Saturday, May 25.

“I am so proud to be able to take part in this fundraiser,” says Chute, who is the current Artist in Residence at Harcourt House. “Harcourt House plays such an important role in our community and this fundraising event is a great way to promote our talented Edmonton artists as well as the centre which is an important cultural icon in our city.”

Harcourt House is an Edmonton artist-run centre integral to the city’s art community. The Art Market in the House event is part of yearly fundraising to help keep Harcourt House operating. It’s also a celebration of the centre’s 25 years in the city.

The event will feature more than 25 local artists showing their original artworks for show and sale. Visitors will be able to meet and chat with the artists, participate in workshops, win prizes and enjoy live music during the evening. Entrance fees to the day’s activities will be by donation and exhibiting artists reap the benefit of all sales, which is Harcourt House’s way of giving back to the art community.

During the event Chute will be offering a sneak peek at her solo exhibition that will be featured in the gallery’s main space in October 2013. “My creativity spans beyond art as well,” says Chute. “I will also be showcasing some very unique candles, cards and home décor – all of which I’m very excited to share with everyone.”

Alexis Marie is an award winning visual artist, photographer and creative writer, receiving over 25 awards since 2008. She was named an Emerging Canadian Photographer by PhotoLife Magazine in 2012, is currently the 2012/2013 Artist in Residence at Harcourt House Gallery Artist Run Centre, the mother of two young children and author of the blog, “Wanted Chosen Planned – Life After the Loss of a Child.”
