Infiniti Appointed a New Chief of Design to Oversee All Future Infiniti Production Models and Con

The American designer has worked at Nissan and Infiniti for over twenty years, and has been responsible for some of the most exciting concepts to make it to auto shows in recent memory. Albaisa will lead a the worldwide Infiniti Design team from the company’s design headquarters in Atsugi, Japan.

The new chief of design moved up the ranks of Nissan starting in 1988, and was appointed Design Director of Nissan America in 2004. In 2007, he was appointed Vice President of Nissan Design Europe, and then in 2011 Vice President of Nissan Design America.

His concept cars, including the Nissan Ellure and Extrem, show a keen eye for clean lines and nuanced detail. In 2012, Albaisa was appointed Design Director of Nissan Design. In this position, Albaisa played a pivotal role in planning the future of Nissan vehicles. Now, as the Director of Design for Infiniti, Albaisa will be instrumental in creating and implementing new a design language across the board to accompany the naming convention reboot the luxury automaker is going through in the next year.
