GRAPEVINE, Texas - May 24, 2013 - PRLog -- The devastating events that occurred in Oklahoma this week are a dual reminder of the terrible ferocity of nature and the enduring spirit of the people of Oklahoma and the nation.

In the aftermath of Monday’s fierce tornado, the process of picking up the pieces is just getting underway. But with tragedy comes hope and the promise of new beginnings. To honor those that were lost and those that are struggling to put their lives back together, Grapevine Ford Lincoln is holding an online fundraiser to benefit the American Red Cross’ efforts in Oklahoma. To date, Grapevine Ford Lincoln has already raised over $11,000 of a $50,000 goal. “The level of destruction caused by this storm was so shocking and so overwhelming that we knew we had to do whatever we could to help,” said Chaz Gilmore, Managing Partner of Grapevine Ford Lincoln. “There are people out there who have lost loved ones, lost homes, lost everything – it’s unimaginable, and our thoughts and prayers go out to them. I’d personally like to encourage our local community to support the people of Oklahoma and hard-hit areas like the town of Moore by helping us reach our $50,000 goal. No amount is too small, and all of the money raised is going directly to the American Red Cross’ humanitarian efforts.”

As part of a broader donation strategy, Ford Motor Company and its Oklahoma dealerships announced Wednesday a $400,000 donation to be split between the American Red Cross and United Way. Ford Motor Company is also donating a Ford Transit Connect van to the American Red Cross to aid in cleanup efforts, and is providing $500 for drivers with tornado-damaged cars, trucks and SUVs toward the purchase of a new Ford.

"The impact of these tornadoes is devastating on thousands of families," said Jim Vella, President of Ford Motor Company Fund and Community Services. "We know there is great need for assistance, and Ford, its dealers and employees are coming together to provide needed resources.”
