International navies gather to discuss next generation damage control and fire fighting requirements

CHELMSFORD, U.K. - May 28, 2013 - PRLog -- As every sailor will agree, damage control and fire fighting training often proves tedious (and cold) and will never be as ‘glamorous’ as other duties. But this can quickly change in an emergency with flooding, fire or in some cases, battle damage.

All of a sudden, a safe, secure and underway ship can become a vastly different place.  With flooding compartments full of ice cold South Atlantic seawater, or a furnace in an engine room, damage control quickly becomes everyone’s sole concern.

As with many sectors, technology continues to develop and provide the ability to improve reaction time, automate fire fighting and enhance crew survivability and this is why 2013 promises to be an exciting year for the maritime and naval damage control and fire fighting communities.

Later on this year, the 9th and 10th of October to be precise, a dedicated meeting will take place that, for the first time, will bring together the international damage control stakeholders from every major naval nation in the world.

The event, Naval Damage Control 2013, which is the first of its kind, is already attracting attention from both senior and civilian damage control and fire fighting authorities

The delegation will be discussing a wealth of topics including ship board fire fighting, automation, crew reduction issues, detection, training, CBRN and medical care.  Industry will also be playing a major role in the event with demonstrations and displays of the very latest innovations available.

Naval Damage Control 2013, organised by The Development Network, a well-known UK based conference organiser, is being viewed as one of the most critical meeting points for each and every stakeholder in the damage control and fire fighting arena.

L-3 Marine Systems UK, a UK based organisation, will be the lead sponsor for the 2013 event and will discuss options available for navies to improve crew reaction and overall capabilities.
