Meet Sonny Shroyer (Enos) at the 2013 Carlisle Chrysler Nationals

CARLISLE, Pa. - May 29, 2013 - PRLog -- For the past three years at the Carlisle PA Fairgrounds, the Carlisle Chrysler Nationals has played host to at least one cast member from the iconic TV show the Dukes of Hazzard.  That trend continues in 2013 as Chrysler weekend, held July 12-14, welcomes Sonny Shroyer.  Shroyer is best known as Deputy Enos Straite and appeared in almost every episode of the Dukes show.

Shroyer is a Georgia native who attended Florida State University to play football.  After an injury ended his playing career, he transferred back to his home state of Georgia and ultimately graduated from the University of Georgia.  Since breaking into show business, Shroyer has starred in countless films and TV programs.  Big screen appearances include the role of Governor Jimmie Davis in Ray and Coach Bear Bryant in Forrest Gump.  Notable TV appearances include the Love Boat, Matlock, In the Heat of the Night, Alice, Hee Haw, Knots Landing and a short lived Dukes spinoff entitled Enos.

Shroyer becomes the sixth cast member of the Dukes of Hazzard to appear at the Carlisle Chrysler Nationals.  He joins James Best (Rosco) and Byron Cherry (Coy Duke) who attended in 2010, John Schneider (Bo Duke) who was onsite in 2011 and Catherine Bach (Daisy Duke) and Ben Jones (Cooter) who spent the 2012 weekend at Carlisle.

“As someone who literally grew up watching the Dukes, I'm definitely excited to have Sonny at the show,” said event manager Ed Buczeskie.  “He's a true southern gentleman and I really think people are going to enjoy meeting him in July.”
An encounter with Shroyer is free as part of the gate admission for Chrysler weekend.  The first autograph or photo with Shroyer will be free; however, additional signatures or items purchased from his merchandise table come with a price point determined by him.
