Follow on Google News | Hazardous Areas: New High Voltage Increased-Safety Enclosures Fully ATEX and IECEx ApprovedHazardous area electrical connection specialist, Hawke International, has introduced new high capacity, ATEX and IECEx compliant, junction boxes for high voltage cable terminations.
By: Hawke International A flexible answer to multiple high-power demands, the new boxes permit up to 12 cable terminations per bus-bar. Units can be flexibly configured for three-phase and Earth, three-phase with neutral and Earth or single-phase and Earth. Each copper bus-bar has the capacity of up to 2500 amps per phase and can handle voltages of 7.2Kv between phases. Enclosures have been independently tested for short circuit ratings up to 100kA for one second and carry ATEX certification marks ExeIIC and ExtbIIIC for use in temperature classifications T3, T4 and T5. The heavy gauge grade 316 stainless steel enclosures offer excellent resistance to chemicals and marine environments. Silicone sponge gaskets to base plate and lid provide an effective environmental seal to IP66 standard. Units are designed for ease of installation and service. Cable installation is simple by secure crimp connections to each bus bar. Heavy duty base plates give ample room for cable entry and the installation of up to 36 Hawke cable glands. Each box is supplied with a heavy duty fixing frame with lifting lugs.
