PLANO, Pa. - June 4, 2013 - PRLog -- Plano, Texas (May 20, 2013)…“Only one thing in my life has ever caused the hair on my neck to stand up. We were on patrol one time (cannot disclose where), and we came upon a Soviet submarine. Tracking it with our sonar without them knowing was awesome,” says Michael Schrayer, recounting one of the memorable experiences from his six years in the U.S. Navy.

Schrayer is new to GMC – he has been at Ewing Buick GMC for six months and is the New Vehicle Sales Director. During his enlistment heserved asa Sonar Technician and later Drug and Alcohol Abuse Counselor;was stationed in Connecticut and Holy Loch, Scotland; and had the rank of E-5 when he was discharged from the Navy.

“The military is not just a job, not just an adventure. It’s an opportunity to serve your country. We are the greatest nation on earth and wouldn’t be if not for our military. One can learn quite a few trades that can be of use in the civilian world, but none of that compares to the honor of accepting the responsibility of protecting your family, friends and those we don’t know from the rest of the world.”

And he appreciates the results of that responsibility: “Watching my son play baseball and my daughter dance and play piano are some of my favorite things. Nothing is better than hanging with my kids!”

This will be Schrayer’s first time to participate in Carry The Load. “Three guys from the Army came by and told us about it. I love that GMC is a sponsor, and I consider it another honor to take part in Carry The Load. It means carrying on what someone else can no longer do.”

“GMC is doing a great thing being involved with our military. It’s not always the popular thing to do – some people would rather us not even have a military.”

In honor of Carry The Load, DFW GMC Dealers are calling all military – active duty and veterans – and friends and family!
