By: Naim Audio Over the past five decades, the company has grown to become a true British manufacturing success story, taking the best in audio performance, including its Uniti series of all-in-one players, to the world. Respected for the quality of its audio systems and its commitment to innovation and consistently pushing the boundaries of what is possible in high-end audio development, Naim Audio now exports to over 40 countries across the globe, and has an annual turnover in excess of £16 million and growing. Last year was a record for Naim with growth of almost 17% in the UK compared to 2011; an astounding achievement against a backdrop of economic uncertainty. Naim Audio was founded in 1973 by the late Julian Vereker a passionate music fan, inventor, racing car driver and entrepreneur. His frustrations with listening to recordings of live performances he had attended led him to experiment with designing and building his own amplifiers and loudspeakers in the late 1960s. For Julian, hi-fi performance was not simply about how it measured, it was also about the listening experience; bringing people closer to the music and connecting with the artist. This core principle still guides Naim Audio today as it continues to design and manufacture world class hi-fi products, five decades on. The two-time Queens Award for Enterprise winner will kick off a month of celebrations for its 40th by hosting Spire FM for a one-off live broadcast on Thursday 6th June from 10am – 2pm at its headquarters in Salisbury. Paul Stephenson, Naim’s Managing Director, commented: “Over the last 40 years, Naim Audio has maintained a unique balance between never losing what makes us a quintessentially British manufacturer – attention to detail, true craftsmanship and a focus on the highest quality - and always being at the cutting edge of audio innovation, music streaming and multi-room wireless systems. “We have always remained true to our founder’s singular aim - to bring people closer to music. It’s what drives us to constantly strive to improve people’s listening experience. Our customers believe in us and trust us to make the best in high end audio and we work hard to ensure their expectations are not just met, but exceeded, every time they listen to our audio systems. All of this has enabled us to continue to grow in the UK and internationally year on year, bucking the economic recession of recent years.” This year also marks 20 years of Naim Label, a record label established by the company in 1993 to provide a strong international platform for outstanding independent artists to release their music. Recent releases include Say it to My Face – the debut solo album from Huey Morgan from the Fun Lovin’ Criminals’. Naim has a passionate and committed interest in music. This is as true today as it was at the time of the company's formation in Salisbury, England, 40 years ago. Enjoyment of music has driven Naim to design and manufacture the finest range of audio equipment available. Top engineering principles ensure that all Naim products meet and exceed the measurable parameters essential for state-of-the- For more information visit them online at www.naimaudio.com. End
