Nottingham Charity to Deliver Global Virtual Conference on Deaf Education

NOTTINGHAM, U.K. - June 13, 2013 - PRLog -- A global virtual conference using technology which allows people from around the world to listen to speakers and ask questions in real time is being held to discuss and debate how deaf education in the 21st century has been changed by hearing technology.

The Ear Foundation in Nottingham, the charity which helps deaf children, teenagers and adults to make the most of today's amazing hearing technology,  is joining forces with hearing technology manufacturers, Phonak, to deliver the Virtual Conference.

It is the fourth Virtual Conference to be held by the two organisations, as pre-recording lectures and providing completely virtual conferences grows in popularity amongst hearing professionals who are pushed for time and money.

On 18th June, delegates from around the world will clear their diaries and listen online to lectures on a wide range of topics including 'techniques to encourage listening and language',  'the benefits of cochlear implants for pre-school children' and 'how FM systems can be used in deaf education'.

The Ear Foundation's Chief Executive Sue Archbold says: "We are grateful to Phonak for making the technological side of the conference happen. Last year we were joined by over 120 delegates from countries including Australia, Brasil, United States, Ireland, Belgium and Lithuania!  This year are expecting an even wider audience."

Delegates are able to listen to the lectures on the day, or fit viewing around their busy lives over the next three months. They can also post questions on speaker's forums for two weeks following the conference.
