Chesham War Memorial Restored In Time For The Centennial Celebrations

CHESHAM, U.K. - June 10, 2013 - PRLog -- The war memorial in Chesham is in the centre of town on the High street and Broadway.  The memorial is a Portland limestone and bronze plaque design with the figure of the unnamed soldier as an infantry man.  The monument was cleaned with a specialist steam system and repaired with lime mortars.  The bronze plaques were cleaned and waxed to preserve the names.

Michael Sheppard, Director at Inspire Conservation comments “the monument is in the centre of the town and was under a lot of public scrutiny but the locals have been brilliant and we have had a huge amount of praise for the work.  I think that the monument is now ready for the centennial and will be set for another 100 years before any more work is necessary.  The council have been a good customer and we have worked well together to provide a valuable service to the local community”

The parks manager Bob Ayres has commended the work and has welcomed the local praise.  Inspire Conservation also restored the war memorial in Amersham before the November 2012 date and the work there was referred from Amersham town council to Chesham town council.
