Opera San José opens its 30th Anniversary Season with Verdi’s amusing masterpiece Falstaff

SAN JOSE, Calif. - June 10, 2013 - PRLog -- Opera San José opens its 30th Anniversary Season with Giuseppe Verdi’s Falstaff. Loosely based on Shakespeare's comedy The Merry Wives of Windsor, Falstaff is a whimsical tale of greed and deception as an old portly knight tries to recapture his youth by attempting to entice two wealthy married women, who in turn trick and humiliate him for his deceitful lewdness. Falstaff will be sung in Italian with English supertitles. Eight performances are scheduled from September 7 through 22 at the California Theatre, 345 South First Street in downtown San José. The production of Falstaff is made possible, in part by a Cultural Affairs Grant from the City of San José.
