Rally for Equality to be held in front of PA State Capitol in Harrisburg, PA on 6/22/13

ENOLA, Pa. - June 13, 2013 - PRLog -- We will join forces with organizations including: Delaware Valley United Americans, The Philadelphia Summit, American Civil Liberties Union, PA Student Equality Coalition, and Equality PA to speak in support of pending legislation in the PA General Assembly.

In March, Senator Daylin Leach, et al, submitted PA Senate Bill 719 which would amend Pennsylvania law to allow marriage for same-sex couples. Shortly after, Senator Leach and Representative Brian Sims submitted PA House and Senate Bills 300 in their respective chambers. These bills would end legal discrimination for all public accommodations, including but not limited to housing, employment, lodging, and transportation. The Pennsylvania Safe Schools Act (PASS ACT) is PA House Bill 156, and according to its sponsor, Representative Dan Truitt (R – Chester), “Some kids are so brutalized – right on school property and in the classroom – that they come to see suicide as their only option.  That we would stand by and do nothing to keep them from being victimized is unconscionable.”
