Individual press trips available with Pride of Britain Hotels

Renowned for superb hospitality and exceptional levels of service, Pride of Britain Hotels, the consortium of 46 privately-owned independent British hotels and spas, is currently offering to host journalists subject to an agreed commission.

June 24, 2013 - PRLog -- Admission to the group is subject to each hotel successfully passing an anonymous overnight inspection and a ballot of the membership – many hotels are turned down due to the high standards expected.  The consortium is limited to a maximum of 50 hotels (and is fast approaching this limit).  Here are the details of some of the consortium’s members, all keen to host interested writers, from points north, south, east and west in Britain:

Barnsley House - an adults-only retreat (minimum age is 14) situated in the heart of the Cotswolds.  The hotel is renowned for its glorious Rosemary Verey-designed gardens and it also has a private 30-seater cinema (complete with pink leather sofas), a spa and the delightful Potager restaurant that uses delicious home-grown ingredients from the vegetable garden.

The Montagu Arms - in the idyllic New Forest village of Beaulieu, where ponies roam freely, the Montagu Arms features a Michelin-starred restaurant, roaring log fires, cosy lounges and, of course, delicious cuisine.  The hotel recently won an award from The Tea Guild in 2013 for its afternoon tea and residents enjoy complimentary wine tastings on Saturdays.

Dormy House – due to re-open in August, the former 17th century farmhouse in Broadway, on the Gloucestershire/Worcestershire borders, is being painstakingly renovated with Emily Todhunter interiors and a modern British menu.  A luxury spa is due to open in 2014.

The Torridon – a former hunting lodge, complete with turrets and overlooking Loch Torridon, in Scotland’s Wester Ross – one of the UK’s most remote locations (nearest airport is Inverness).  The complimentary range of activities is ideal for active guests and includes guided walks, kayaking (often in the company of otters and seals) and archery.  The hotel has a whisky bar with over 350 single malts and a two-acre kitchen garden overseen by Chef Bruno Birkbeck.  Transport would need to be arranged separately.

Holbeck Ghyll – a dog-and-cat-friendly boutique hotel in the Lake District with sweeping views of Lake Windermere and a Michelin-starred restaurant; The hotel also hosted the actress Renee Zellweger while she filmed Miss Potter and has a suite named after the film.

Maison Talbooth - overlooking Dedham Vale in the heart of Essex’s Constable country, the family-run luxury country house hotel has 12 individually-styled bedrooms, an outdoor pool and hot tub (both heated year-round), spa treatments, tennis and Le Talbooth restaurant, overlooking the idyllic River Stour.

The Capital – a unique family-run five-star townhouse in Knightsbridge, London SW1 (just 20 steps from Harrods) that houses Nathan Outlaw’s first London restaurant, specialising in fresh British seafood.

Grand Jersey Hotel & Spa - a five-star beachfront Channel Islands hotel that overlooks St Aubin’s Bay and Elizabeth Castle that manages to be both decadent and child-friendly.  Transport would need to be arranged separately.
