Toyota unveiled the new Corolla in a spectacular evening gala held at Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California. The event opened with a series of avant-garde culinary treats concocted by celebrity chef Richard Blais, including liquid nitrogen cocktails and roasted pork bell with licorice grits and pickled peaches. After this, guests were treated to a dazzling visual experience by Fuerza Bruta, a New York City-based performance group that put on their high-energy, mesmerizing show while suspended above the guests in tanks of water.

The finale, of course, was the final reveal of the 2014 Corolla itself. It was lowered from the ceiling in an awe-inspiring display, while three more new Corollas appeared from a hidden area of the hangar. Bill Fay, group vice president and general manager of Toyota introduced the striking 11th-generation vehicle with a little help from the aptly-named comedian Adam Carolla.

The unique CVTi-S transmission available in the new Corolla combines the exhilarating feel of a traditional automatic transmission with the efficiency and power of a conventional CVT for a driving experience that’s both fun and economical. The 2014 Corolla will arrive at Toyota dealerships later this year, and is certain to revolutionize the way American drivers think of fuel-efficient, affordable vehicles.
